Asia Spotlight: Johor Motorsport Racing Takes Multiple GTWC Asia Wins with Corvette

2025 marked the emergence of Johor Motorsport Racing (JMR) as a force in GT World Challenge Asia. At Sepang, Prince Jefri Ibrahim and his British co‑driver Alexander Sims captured the Corvette's first Asian victory. DailySportscar reported that, after a mid‑race safety‑car period bunched the pack, a late drive‑through penalty for a leading Mercedes‑AMG allowed JMR's No. 99 Corvette Z06 GT3.R to inherit the lead with one lap remaining and win by 3.2 seconds. The victory came in only the team's second outing with the car and propelled them to the championship lead.

Two months later at Buriram, JMR switched co‑drivers, pairing Ibrahim with Ben Green. Sportscar365 described how Green led from pole before Ibrahim held off KRC's BMW M4 GT3 Evo to secure a narrow 0.35‑second win. The victory catapulted Ibrahim into the lead of the drivers' standings and marked the team's second win of the season.

By mid‑season JMR had amassed three Pro‑Am wins and three overall victories, with Ibrahim leading the Pro‑Am championship and the team sitting second overall. A feature in Robb Report Singapore framed JMR's journey as a royal family's dream to compete at Le Mans, noting that the team was founded in 2019 by Prince Jefri and his brother Prince Abu Bakar. Their ambition goes beyond trophies: JMR aims to elevate motorsport standards across Malaysia and Singapore and to develop local drivers and engineers.
