Corvette ZR1X Driven: America's New Ferrari-Slayer with 1,250 HP
The Corvette ZR1 now adds an electric motor to its hammer V8 — turning it fully into the new hero among hypercars. A driving report.

AUTO BILD has driven the new Corvette ZR1X — and comes away convinced that Chevrolet has built a genuine Ferrari-slayer. By pairing the ZR1's monster V8 with an electric motor on the front axle, the ZR1X becomes an all-wheel-drive hybrid hypercar with numbers that read like a supercar spec sheet.
The Powertrain: 1,250 PS Combined
At the heart of the ZR1X sits a twin-turbo V8 producing 1,079 PS — described as the most powerful V8 in GM's history. A 189 PS electric motor drives the front axle, lifting the combined system output to 1,250 PS and 1,320 Nm of torque. The electric all-wheel-drive setup channels this power to the road with remarkable composure.
Performance
- 0–60 mph in 2.0 seconds (versus 2.2 seconds for the rear-wheel-drive ZR1) - Quarter mile (0–400 m) in under 9.0 seconds
Behind the Wheel
AUTO BILD describes the ZR1X as a "precision tool" with remarkable cornering stability. The electric all-wheel-drive system allows precise torque distribution through corners — a clear step forward from the classic muscle-car formula.
Price and Availability
In the United States the ZR1X starts at around $209,700 (roughly €180,000). For now it is only offered on the American market; an export to Europe is being considered, but the timing remains uncertain.
